Cross Country cycling routes in Beskid Niski mountains – valleys of non-existent villages.

Beskid Niski mountains owe its specific climate because of history and the beauty of nature. Most of the bikers love these mountains due to smooth slops and many marked bicycle routes witch drive through many attractive places. Here you can find description of one of cycle route which runs through the most beautiful valleys and the place of Lemko’s devotion.

Beautiful valleys of Czertyżne, Bieliczna and Regetowka.

The route of medium difficulty, length of 39 km. The challenge may be to climb on Ostry Wierch Mountain, but you can modify the route avoiding the steep summit. The route runs through the following places and towns: Uście Gorlickie - Kwiatoń - Skwirtne - Hańczowa - Ropki - Czertyżne - Banica - Izby- Bieliczna-Ostry Wierch - Cigielka – Jawor Mountain - Wysowa - Regietów - Skwirtne – Kwiatoń - Uście Gorlickie.

We set out from Uście Gorlickie way to Gładyszów and Kwiatoń turn on Skwirtne. We cross a wooden bridge over the river Zdynia and after driving one kilometer turn right in accordance with the guideline on Hańczowa. We move now new asphalt roadway to pass near the top of Kiczerka (625 m). Fast, but cautious downhill ride (turns!) to Hańczowa takes us a few minutes. Just at the junction with the road to Wysowa is a beautiful wooden church dedicated to Our Lady Care, formerly Greek Catholic and Orthodox today.

Pass Lipka – unforgetable views.

In Hańczowa, at the intersection, choose a road with the red trail and head to the place Ropki. Along the way, the route joins the blue trail. In Ropki, at the crossroads where the paths diverge red and blue, we continue along the red trail along the creek Polczyn, then we choose the path to Czertyżne marked as trail for horse riding. We enter now into one of the most beautiful valleys in the Beskid Niski Mountains called Czertyżne Valley, the area of non-existing Lemko village. Mild driveway leads us to pass Lipka, from which we can admire the unique landscape.

From the pass we descend to the village of Banica along the way passing on the right, the former village cemetery Czertyżne. Beating the White River ferry (Bieliczna), we drive on asphalt road and turn left, heading for the village of Izby village. In Izby, we pass the stone church of the Holy Luke the Evangelist from 1886, which was built on the site of an earlier wooden chaurch. Then turn left into the valley of the White River (Bieliczna) and reach to the former village Bieliczna. Scenically beautiful route to the right of the highest peak of the Beskid Niski Mountains, called Lackowa (997 m) on the left Wierch and Stożek, in front of us emerges culmination of Ostry Wierch peak (938 m).

We get to the crossroads, and this is where the road goes to the left marked as horse riding route, straight while signpost indicates the direction of the pass Pulaski. The horse riding route comes to the yellow trail on Pass Perehyba, which you can reached Ropki village, and later villages like Hańczowa, Skwirtne and Kwiatoń. This is the shortes way back to the Oak Deep Rest House from that palce.

We, however, choose the route to the pass Pulaski . After a short climb we reach the border of the state and further to the left the green trail (parallel to the green runs red prepared by Slovaks). After a few dozen meters route begins suddenly rise up and we are forced to get off the bike. We take laboriously with the bike to the summit of Ostry Wierch Peak. Slope angle is quite big and it costs a little effort ( for the less experienced is proposed horse riding route through the pass Perehyba ). After a short break at the top of Ostry Wierch Peak, we drive on the green trail, traveling along the border of the country. On the way we pass the culmination of Cigielka peak (805 m), we turn to the left of the green trail. We continue driving along the border. Just before the top of Jawor Mountain turn left to clear forest path ( horse trail ). After a few minutes we reach the holy place for ther Lemkos , in which there is a shrine dedicated to the God Holy Virgin dated from 1929 and well with healing water (by followers of Orthodox and Greek Catholics). Next, the local land road with red trail, driving us to the Wysowa Spa .

Wysowa village - spa in the shadow of Krynica?

Wysowa is a charming, more and more being discovered by tourists spa. City is growing rapidly, refurbished pump rooms, an amphitheater and spa park, recently built a new indoor swimming pool. It is here to stay for a while, explore and eat at a restaurant serving traditional Lemko’s food.

After a short break we move further heading for Blechnarka village. The asphalt road changes later in the land road. Note on the right the huge mound of ants located in the vicinity of the road. At the crossroads turn left following the black trail that leads to the cemetery from World War I No. 49. After a few hundred meters the black trail goes to the right, while we continue to drive straight ahead. For a moment we see coming from the right side the blue trail that leads back to Wysowa Spa, but we follow the blue trail and select after a few dozen meters turn right onto the road signposted as a yellow bike trail. A beautiful route through beech forest to finally reach Regietów Wyżny village. Leaving the forest , in the bottom of the valley we see the Regietówka creek, and on the right we can see an outline of Jaworzyna Konieczniańska peak (881 m).

We get to the land road and turn left. The road slopes gently down along the Regietówka creek, accompanied us the yellow trail is running from Pass Regietowskia . On the right we pass a chapel built on the site of a former Orthodox shrine and cemetery.

After several minutes of driving we arrive to Regietów Niżny, where is located one of the biggest Hucul horses studs in Europe "Gładyszów". At the junction choose the way to the left which drives to Skwirtne village. At the next junction turn left to Kwiatoń village and after a few minutes of driving, we are back at Uście Gorlickie.
